Contracted to design, supply and install the solid facade elements of West Bar Building 4 – 1,500m² of anodised aluminium rainscreen cladding to the main elevations, 500m² of plant room perforated cladding, ground floor aluminium soffit cladding and GRC column casings to the colonnade.
SYSTEMS AND PRODUCTS.
WHAT WE DID.
The primary cladding element – Ash & Lacy anodised aluminium panels – demanded consistent finish at scale. Maintaining uniformity across an anodised aluminium finish is a known technical challenge: achieving consistency across 1,500m² required careful management of panel production and sequencing.
The GRC column casings at colonnade level presented a second technically demanding scope item. The columns – large-diameter circular casings forming the covered walkway beneath the building’s overhang – required precise moulding, dimensional accuracy and a consistent surface finish. The interface between each GRC column, the aluminium soffit above and the glazed ground floor envelope required careful co-ordination throughout the installation.
Plant room perforated cladding panels and aluminium soffit cladding completed HKL’s scope, with Tenmat firestopping detailing applied throughout.
