Contracted to remove existing unitised bonded glass system and carry out alterations to refresh the façade frontage. These included adaptation of the existing unitised system to introduce smaller bonded glazing panels and aluminium spandrels, lift and slide doors, and a new structurally glazed reception and draught lobby area.

We were also appointed to complete a full façade remediation package on the existing unitised façade outside of our scope of works to deliver the client with a turn-key façade delivery.

“The commitment of HKL’s logistics team and installers was central to the successful delivery of the façade works.”

Ryan Damms, Operations Director, HKL Specialists

“In December 2024, the Directors of 8build contacted HKL to discuss the negotiation of the façade package. With the programme already under pressure, HKL moved quickly; by the end of January 2025, the contract was in place and design works were underway.

The new façade design was developed with careful consideration of interfaces between the existing façade and the new terraces. A rigorous façade design approval process followed, supported by HKL’s structured approach to technical submittals, samples, benchmarks, and engineering. This demonstrated compliance with the performance specification and enabled effective collaboration with the wider design team and consultants.

Located just a short distance from London Bridge station, the project presented significant logistical constraints. Deliveries of materials and plant had to be carefully planned around timed restrictions, requiring close coordination with 8build and regular out-of-hours working. The commitment of HKL’s logistics team and installers was central to the successful delivery of the façade works and enabled the strip-out phase to be completed ahead of the target programme.

The new façade installation was completed to budget and programme. The finished scheme provides a strong visual result and acts as a clear showcase of HKL’s façade delivery capability.”
