Commercial and mixed-use

HKL has delivered facade packages across some of England’s most complex commercial and mixed-use developments – from high-rise city-centre schemes to multi-phase regeneration projects where different buildings, programmes and contractors have to be managed simultaneously.
This image shows the inside of the Princess Square shopping centre in Bracknell. It shows an escalator and shop frontages.

Our commercial portfolio includes West Bar in Sheffield, where HKL contracts across both divisions total more than £7m – one of the largest construction project in Sheffield this century and one where our ability to coordinate across multiple phases and scopes has been central to its delivery.

Commercial and mixed-use schemes typically demand the full range of facade capability: curtain walling, structural glazing, rainscreen cladding, SFS and windows often appear in combination on the same building – and the ability to manage all of them under a single contract simplifies procurement and accountability for main contractors.

We have also delivered commercial facade work in central London, including Old Street Roundabout for Morgan Sindall – a below-ground installation on one of the capital’s busiest junctions, where the logistical and programme constraints were as demanding as the technical specification.

Both HKL Specialists and HKL Special Projects are active in the commercial sector, meaning we can match the right division to the scale and scope of each project – and draw on the combined capability of both where the scheme requires it.

Our Constructionline Platinum accreditation, CWCT membership and up to £10m Professional Indemnity cover provide the formal standing that commercial clients and their procurement teams require – and our track record across major city-centre schemes demonstrates that we can deliver at the scale and pace that commercial programmes demand.
